Where We Go is a body of work that addresses and contemplates the ways people experience the natural world. I am interested in authentic experiences and the ways we directly interact with our surroundings. Working in national, state or local parks, I am looking at the historic and contemporary ways people have traveled through and experienced the outdoors.
I moved around quite a bit after finishing graduate school, spending one year each in Oregon, Oklahoma, and Wyoming and immersing myself in their landscapes. I also often bring my camera on family vacations. A large portion of my family live in Minnesota and we try to visit and make pictures there at least once a year.
